An aircraft carrying 72 individuals crashed in Pokhara in western Nepal on Sunday, an airport official said, whereas state television reported some our bodies had been recovered.

The twin-engine ATR 72 aircraft operated by Yeti Airlines was en route from Kathmandu, capital of the small Himalayan nation, said the official, who requested to not be named as he was not accredited to speak to media.

Local television confirmed thick black smoke billowing from the crash web site as rescue workers and crowds of individuals gathered throughout the wreckage of the aircraft.
